Every question,
with a time stamp.
An RFI is a sheet standing still. RFI Manager raises it in your template, sends it, reads the reply when it comes back, and puts a task on every sheet the answer touches. You can ask it, in plain English, what is still open.
- Raisethe detailer picks the sheet and the grid; the sketch and the question go on your form
- Sendnumbered your way, logged with the time
- Readthe reply is read, including mark-ups drawn on the PDF, and summarised
- Placea task lands on every sheet the answer changes, with the RFI number on it
- Closewhen the sheets are revised; the record keeps question, answer and dates
- Ask"which RFIs are open on sequence 3?" "what did the engineer say about the W16 at grid C?"
What it does
on a job
The RFI log on most jobs is a spreadsheet one person keeps. Here the log is the job, and it keeps itself.
Your form
Your RFI template and your numbering scheme. The first RFI on a job looks like the last one you sent yourself.
Reads the reply
Answers come back as email, PDF, or a marked-up drawing. Each is read, summarised in a sentence, and attached to the RFI with the original.
Tasks on sheets
Every sheet the answer changes gets a task with the RFI number on it, and the task stays on the sheet until the detailer clears it.
A person judges
Whether the answer actually settles the question, and what to change on the model, is decided by the detailer. The software never guesses at steel.
What a person
still does
The line that matters on every tool page.
- 01Writes the question. The detailer decides what to ask and draws the sketch. The software formats and files.
- 02Judges the answer.A reply can be read and summarised by software. Whether it settles the steel is a detailer's call.
- 03Not yet.It does not write RFIs on its own. A person writes every one; the software files, sends, reads and tracks.
